Save the Children International CEO Jasmine Whitbread Visits China

Wednesday 22 January 2014

Save the Children International CEO joins China Country Director Pia MacRae at an education project in the Tibetan Autonomous Region.

Save the Children in China was delighted to welcome Save the Children International CEO Jasmine Whitbread to the country between May 13th and 16th, 2013.  Although Ms. Whitbread’s visit was short, it was extremely eventful.

Ms. Whitbread kicked off her visit by attending a Post-2015 Millennium Development Agenda and Child Development symposium, which was co-hosted by Save the Children in China and the China Development Research Foundation.  Alongside Country Director Pia MacRae, Ms. Whitbread then flew to the Tibetan Autonomous Region for a brief field visit, where she met with local staff and key government agencies.  She also had the chance to meet teachers and students at our local education projects.

Upon returning to Beijing, Ms. Whitbread met Chinese Deputy Foreign Minister Cheng Guoping, and enjoyed a dinner with all of our Beijing-based staff.

This was Ms. Whitbread’s second visit to China, and we look forward to welcoming her soon again in the future!
